2021 Host Sites
Central Community House is a comprehensive, neighborhood-based community center that has been serving the near east and near south neighborhoods of Columbus, Ohio in the settlement house tradition since 1936. Intern will work with staff to complete three grant proposals and strategy papers, create marketing content, and build the capacity of a social enterprise.
The Fellow will support the development department with strategy, research, grant writing, marketing, fundraising, and increasing earned income.
City Year Columbus unites teams of young people to serve in Columbus City Schools, helping students build the skills they need to thrive in school and graduate from high school ready for what’s next.
The Fellow will support the development team with donor prospecting, media, communications, and development operations.
Columbus Metropolitan Library Foundation
The Columbus Metropolitan Library Foundation provides financial support for the Library’s greatest needs and highest priorities through generous gifts from customers to support vital services to the central Ohio community, like homework help for students, early literacy skill training for children and resume services for job seekers.
Intern will assist in the creation a strategic plan for the future of the stewardship program.
Economic and Community Development Institute, Inc.
ECDI has been providing small business loans, ranging from $500-$350,000, to help low-income, low-wealth, and other disadvantaged people and communities join the economic mainstream. ECDI has assisted over 13,000 individuals through our comprehensive suite of entrepreneurial programs and services. ECDI has disbursed a total of over $50 million through more than 2,100 loans, and created and retained over 8,000 jobs. The organization supports loans for new and established businesses. Many of their other services can help develop a new business into a loan-ready client. ECDI provides the tools, technical assistance and support for businesses to succeed.
The Fellow provide support for the Food Fort, community garden, and quality job initiatives.
Equitas Health (formerly AIDS Resource Center Ohio), is a regional not-for-profit community-based healthcare system and federally qualified community health center look-alike. Its expanded mission has made it one of the nation’s largest HIV/AIDS, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) healthcare organizations. With 17 offices in 11 cities, it serves more than 67,000 individuals in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia each year through its diverse healthcare and social service delivery system focused around: primary and specialized medical care, community pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, HIV/STI prevention, advocacy, and community health initiatives. In 2019, the Buckeye Regional Anti-Violence Organization (BRAVO) became a part of Equitas Health. The Equitas Health Pharmacy operates as social enterprise for Equitas Health; 100% of profits are reinvested back into the organization’s programs and services.
The Fellow will assist with planning, logistics, marketing, and solicitation of event-related materials for the Art for Life gala.
Family Mentor Foundation
Family Mentor Foundation began in 2013 with a mission to create services and partnerships that help fill in the areas lacking in a child’s life. Today, Family Mentor Foundation seeks to help meet the unmet needs of children in our community through a variety of programs and resources that will help them to reach their full potential.
The Fellow will support the Buddy Box weekend food program, fundraising, and other special events.
Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW)
FLOW was formed in August 1997 with the mission to keep the Olentangy River and its tributaries clean and safe for all to enjoy, through public education, volunteer activities, and coordination with local decision-makers.
The Fellow will support improve website design, development opportunities, and database organization.
Grange Insurance Audubon Center
The Grange Insurance Audubon Center offers engaging, hands-on activities and opportunities for people of all ages to connect with nature in the heart of downtown Columbus. Programming includes STEAM-based programming for youth, guided journey’s into the birding world, gardening, nature appreciation, environmental advocacy, and outdoor adventures.
The Fellow will create an ongoing process focused on engaging equitable and diverse audiences.
Hope Hollow
Hope Hollow offers, at no cost, a place of lodging and respite that is peaceful, welcoming and supportive to people with cancer, their family members and friends. The organization offers a place of hospitality and hope to these individuals while on their journey.
The Fellow will assist in the development and implementation of a marketing plan to acquire corporate sponsorships and board members.
Martin de Porres Center
The Martin de Porres Center is dedicated to meeting the holistic needs of the community through partnerships with churches and local nonprofits to support education initiatives, arts events, and community engagement.
The Fellow will serve as a creativity coach for the summer camp program.
Muslim Family Services of Ohio
Muslim Family Services of Ohio serves families in need in the Central Ohio area with confidentiality, respect and dignity.
The Fellow will assist staff with developing and launching a digital marketing campaign.
Established in 1972, Netcare Access is Franklin County’s 24-hour mental health and substance abuse crisis intervention and assessment services for adults and those with developmental disabilities. Netcare is the connection to the county’s Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health (ADAMH) system, providing referrals to other ADAMH agencies for treatment services.
The Fellow will support marketing and fundraising activities.
The Ohio Craft Museum is a program of Ohio Designer Craftsmen, presenting five major exhibitions each year, focus exhibits and a rotating display of the permanent collection. The museum houses the Craft Research Library and offers educational workshops and events for all ages and levels of experience.
The Fellow will serve as the assistant camp coordinator for the Young Masters summer day camp
Ruling Our Experiences (ROX)
ROX creates generations of confident girls who control their own relationships, experiences, decisions, and futures through evidence-based programming that simultaneously impacts girls and educates the adult influencers in the girls’ lives, improving the societal conditions that have the potential to negatively impact girls.
The Fellow will create and develop advocacy resources for various stakeholders.
Zora’s House is the only co-working and community space in central Ohio catering specifically to women of color with the mission to equip women of color with the clarity, confidence, and community they need to live their best lives and do their best work – all within a curated environment of sisterhood and support.
The Fellow will assist with the development of an operations and employee manual.
