This week brought many new experiences and opportunities at CHA!

I kicked off this week by finishing the testimonial project I had mentioned in a previous blog post. While organizing the testimonials, I found myself learning more about the various programs we provide. I also sat in on an orientation going into more detail about each of our programs. In addition, I had a wonderful conversation with our Nutrition Education specialist and talked of the new curriculum they have been piloting with the children in our program. As someone who is very interested in the advocacy CHA does, this was exciting as legislation has been introduced in the statehouse to include nutritional standards in Ohio. We are currently the only state without them. 

Anne Marie and I have been working diligently about grouping items for the auction and uploading them to GiveSmart. It has been fun to group together different items, especially since they are continuing to come in. We have been writing the auction blurbs, including a hook to bring in bidders, descriptions of the items, and a call to action to BID! Tomorrow is officially the start of event month.

With a new logo comes new responsibility. We also sorted new t-shirts for our staff this week and got to wear our new swag. To end the week, we hosted Crowe at our warehouse as volunteers. It was neat to have a full staff of volunteers, ready to help in whatever way they could. The Americorp VISTA Julia and I brainstormed different ways we can improve the volunteer experience. We want to add music, a TV when giving our volunteer overview presentation, and even provide snacks for the volunteers. 

Although nervous for next week, I can’t wait to update everyone on what I have been up to this summer, and hear from all of you!
